About Maps
How the map will be used makes a difference
Usage determines the amount of detail we can incorporate successfully.

Web: Example: web site community map
Low resolution of web graphics greatly affects the quality and readability of detail. Therefore, dimensions of graphic and amount of detail must be balanced to assure legibility. What may work in print may not work online.

Print: Example: brochure or print ad
High resolution of print graphics allows for superior readability. However, size and amount of detail still play a roll. Understand first, how much area on the page is available for the map. The point size of type must be high enough to maintain legibility. Print ads usually have limited space and require an exaggerated version of a map (less detail/not to scale).

Display: Example: Sales Center Display
Presented in a large format poster or wall display, the size allows for the incorporation of more detail.
